OFCY Project (Oakland Fund for Children and Youth)
Designed innovative evaluation/social media arts project for youth researchers including interviews, photography, video, collaborative writing, mapping, and blogging. Recruited and trained OFCY YETI (Youth Evaluation Team Interns) in research basics, data display, and digital arts production. Supervised/Mentored 5 urban male High School students for 8 months as they implemented their research protocol. Students planned, created, and edited original photos and audio clips into short case study movies.
BAYCES Project (Bay Area Coalition for Equitable Schools)
Created protocols and procedures for new library of research video-tools. Conducted risk/benefit assessment for research participants. Submitted permissions and consents for ethics review. Final product includes video of an inquiry cycle, tagged video clips, and a database interface that allows researchers to access digital files for further evaluation. Hacked iTunes to house video database.

Media & Training Consultant • CANFIT (CA Adolescent Nutrition and Fitness) • Jan-Jul 09

Wrote Curriculum and trained Youth for a series of P2P Video & Photography Production Workshops. Recommended and evaluated Youth and Media Organizations to support CANFIT’s local, regional, and national work. Trained CANFIT staff in advanced uses of interactive/social media techniques including youth UGC, microblogging RSS feeds of Twitter, and customized social networks. Wrote, Shot & Directed a short web movie to explain Built Environments, Food Justice, and other Key Health Access concepts to California Youth. Co-created Guidelines, Technical specs, Award Criteria and Upload Procedures for a Youth Media Contest. Recruited and supported Judges for the Contest and an Awards Ceremony. Research. Wrote toolkit for CANFIT to publish and distribute to health agencies who want to engage the public through online/social media contests. Contest continues today.
