CB Smith-Dahl is certified to teach middle school, high school and ESL. She has taught at a wide range of programs – working with children as young as 8, teens, and adults to create media projects. She has experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and with disabilities. Her specialty is working with at-risk youth, using visual arts as a tool for intervention, reflection, and community building. Some of the programs she’s taught for are Workshop Weekend, the Renaissance Center, Inner City Filmmakers, Horizons San Francisco/ The DJ Project, Streetside Productions/The East Bay Asian Youth Center, and the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts – Artists in the Schools Program in Richmond, CA.
She is a consultant who has written and co-written curriculum for several organizations including the MO Project/California Adolescent Nutrition and Fitness (CANFIT), the Youth Action Institute, LA’s BEST and presents workshops on how to use media to bridge the digital divide and to teach multiple literacies. She is an expert in participatory and community based research techniques involving photography and video.
